7 Things About Your Crap Situation

Very often, when someone comes to me for a reading, they sit down and proceed to dump a whole lot of crap. I mean, a WHOLE lot. That’s OK – I get it and I understand that they need to “offload.” They’re in a super-tough spot and need some clarity. And I love helping them with that (I’m a freak like that).

I had a client the other day who’s had quite the “pile-on” in the last four years: the loss of her father, diagnosis of an illness and – worst of all – the sudden loss of her son in a tragic accident. She sat across from me, wondering why all this horrendous stuff has happened to her.

This is why I always keep a well-stocked box of tissues on the table.

Over the years, there are a few things I’ve learned about “crap.”   And let’s be honest – each and every one of us has had (or is having) their share of it.

Look, I am the least Pollyanna/Maria Von Trapp type you will meet. I generally stay positive, but I’m also aware that bad (and sometimes very bad) stuff happens. Many times, it seems to be so random, and it’s easy to say “Why me?” (right after you utter, “WTF??!”) So, as a psychic, here are a few things I’ve learned about challenges. Take it for what it’s worth.

Sorry, but sometimes, I want to punch her in the throat….

-Challenges are not “personal” – don’t waste time in beating up on anyone or anything (including yourself). Just deal with what’s in front of you. It’s like that classic line from The Godfather: “Its not personal, its business.” No matter how painful the situation, know that the Universe is NOT necessarily trying to come for you. [See the next point.]

Michael does NOT play….

-It’s a lesson – and when its really loud and obnoxious, pay attention. I passionately believe that tough times are put in our path to teach us something. And when something is really, REALLY making a ruckus, the more you need to stop whining and take a hard look at what that might be.

Not saying that it’s easy, but it puts a context around it. For example, if there’s a really crappy person that just won’t go away, what’s YOUR part in that? Trust me, I’ve had many clients who say they just can’t shake a toxic relationship; but on some level, they don’t want to. It takes bravery to admit your role in a problem – but when you do, you’ll be free. Or free-er. NOTE: there are some problems (like the client who lost a child) in which you don’t have a big hand. But you can still find something to learn from. Don’t give up. [See next point].

-The worse your situation, the braver you are. I know (and have had confirmation during many sessions) that we choose to deal with really hard stuff before we come into this life. Our souls understand that we need to grow, so we tee up experiences that will get the job done. If you’re dealing with a total crap-storm of tough times, consider yourself a true Warrior. Fight on.

…neither does the Mother of Dragons….

-It will make you stronger and better – if you let it. Challenges are aerobics for the soul. If you can face them, and see how they are re-shuffling the deck in your life, you will be better for it. I’m not saying it’s fun, but it DOES give you the chance to grow. And I believe that’s why we are here. You will be wiser on the back end.

-Challenges are a reminder of how truly badass you are. As I mentioned, we outline the experiences and challenges we will have before we take human form. And taking that form, otherwise known as “incarnation,” is seriously  gnarly.  Choosing to walk in human shoes is exceptionally tough stuff, and on spirit-side, it’s understood that the truly cool souls are those who choose to put those human shoes on — despite how badly-fitting or tacky-ass they may be.

Coming to a Lady GaGa show near you….

-Your crap situation can help other people. Yes, really. Going through something dreadful can fine-tune your empathy vibe. You’ve been somewhere unique, and now have the capacity to truly understand someone who’s going through something similar. You’re now closer to “the right words “– and that can be invaluable to someone who is lost. Personally, I had a terrible 2016. And once pulling out of the darkness (and frankly, there are days that I know that I’m still pulling out of it), I realized that what was left was a super-clear realization of what others going through a similar time were experiencing. My sensitivity increased; my snarkiness decreased. And that has made all the difference. I can help on a level I couldn’t have before.

-“The troubles,” as my Irish grandmother would’ve called them, are not permanent; change is possible – and even ordained. The sea can teach us here: waves come in, waves go out. Change is the currency of nature. Seasons, the way night turns into day, the phases of the moon…. examples are all around you. So please, do not get locked into a fake idea that your crap is destined to hang on forever and ever and ever. Embrace that this is a moment in the present space and time. Also, embrace the idea that the moment will pass — and things will turn for the better.

How to Raise Your Vibration – and Why You Should

The Beach Boys sang about it – and so did a pre-“serious actor” Marky Mark. I’m talking about “good vibrations.” “Vibrations”, as in a higher energy. “Good”, as in, well, good.

Working effectively with any metaphysical practice (like Tarot), or entities (like angels), requires adjusting our energy. That’s because our usual human energetic state just chugs along. We go on autopilot, with our vibration sort of “powered down.”

Not to mention, today’s environment pounds the crap out of our energy, between the food, toxins and endless electronic distraction we’re subject to. In that state, it can be tough to sense the presence of the higher-functioning beings that are always around us and want to help.

So humans and those other beings need to sort of “meet in the middle.” They slow their fast-moving energy down, while we raise ours. It’s a little bit like those planes that get fueled in mid-air.

“Raising energy” is different for everyone. Personally, I get uncomfortable if I feel too “buzzy,” so I’ve learned how to monitor myself as I do any exercise, and then dial it up or down as needed.

Regular meditation is and has always been the standard way to actively raise and control our energetic vibration, but here are some other things that can be done, pretty much anywhere:

-Drink water. Water conducts electricity. Electricity is a form of energy. Staying well hydrated keeps your vibe going.

I also like to write an intention on my water bottle, like “Health,” “Joy” or whatever I need. Water, boosted with an intention, has enormous power: the molecules are changed –literally.  There was an experiment done in which water droplets were either prayed over or yelled at. When viewed through a microscope, the prayed-for water exhibited a beautiful crystalline structure; the yelled-at ones looked dark, raw and dirty. Intention really packs a punch; make yours positive ones.

-Practice gratitude. Focus on what you have versus what you don’t, what’s going well versus what sucks.  That upgrades your vibration in a huuuuge way, because “gratitude-energy” resonates at a very high level. I like writing down 5 things each day that I’m grateful for.

On today’s menu, it was:

1) waking up in a warm, comfy bed

2) the “regulars” at the diner who always make me smile

3) the leaves turning colors outside my window

4) a hot shower and a cup of coffee

5) my three healthy, snuggly cats

Ain't my boys cute?

Ain’t my boys cute?

Right now, what 5 things are YOU grateful for?

-Listen to Buddhist or Gregorian chants. Not only do they sound gorgeous, there’s a very high spiritual energy attached to these particular forms of music. No surprise they’re key parts of two grand spiritual traditions.

imgres

-Jump up and down. I’m not kidding. Physical activity raises physical energy — and your vibration. Dancing, walking, whatever will do the trick. But it’s been shown that just jumping up and down “excites” the cells in the body and makes them healthier. Hey, Van Halen was on to something….

Besides it being a part of working with angels, spirit guides or those on the Other Side, a higher energetic vibration is key to the Law of Attraction: when we sense the very real Universal Flow, we can then direct that heightened awareness and clarity to manifest what we want in our life.

But here’s the thing about raising your vibration: things in your life may start to go amazingly well. In fact, maybe too well. You may start to worry that something “bad” is bound to happen, that no one deserves all these blessings. Just remember that this state of increased happiness and awareness is what we’re supposed to be experiencing. That joy then ripples out to the rest of the world, so you getting a big break puts a smile on your face, which then makes you more likely to show kindness to someone else, and so on…Good stuff for you is good for everyone. Get it?

Life holds a balance, so yes, there will be tough times – they hold lessons for us, it’s just the natural order. But the truth is that we can experience a greater percentage of “good stuff” over “bad” when our vibration is better aligned with Universal Source. And we can handle challenges much more efficiently, because we can call on help from the Other Side – and actually sense it/work with it for a change.

So in any metaphysical or spiritual pursuit – or just plain old daily life –consider a heightened frequency as the gas that makes the car go. Get ready to go a whole lot faster!

3 Things To Know About A Psychic Reading

I was at a Labor Day barbecue yesterday, and met up with an old semi-acquaintance. It had been years since we’d seen each other, and during our catch up, my work as a psychic came up. Apparently, she didn’t know this about me. Well, the look on her face was one I see a lot: a mixture of curiosity and fear. She shared that she’d never had a reading, was nervous about the prospect, afraid of hearing “something bad.” I get this stuff all the time.

imgres

So I offered to give her a quick reading, as a way to show her what was what. She’d already had a glass of wine, and was game. We found a quiet spot on the patio, I tuned in to her and off we went. The end result was, that she now understands that a reading can be empowering and interesting. It was a real breakthrough moment – her face was glowing with the possibilities now in front of her.

This experience made me feel that it was worth going over a few points about readings for those who’ve been a bit gun-shy. Because they do not have to be scary—in fact, a reading shouldn’t be. Read on…

  • Psychics cannot predict death. I am not going to tell you when, where or how you will meet your maker. That is not for me or anyone else to know or see. If a reader tries to sell you on that, get out.
  • On that same note, psychics can neither place nor remove curses.   This is classic mind-screwing. Curses (which I don’t believe in) are simply a way to get in your head and make you surrender your own power. You think you’re “cursed,” so you start making janky choices (big and small) and the negative consequences pile up. See? The curse must’ve been the cause of [FILL IN THE BLANK].  And sadly, we’ve all heard about those fakes who promise to “remove a curse” in exchange for lots and lots and LOTS of dollars. They are utter money-grubbing frauds (and will get theirs in the end, promise. Karma is a big, sparkly, Disco Bitch). Please don’t surrender your common sense and personal power to anyone with a slick way with words.
  • As to “seeing anything bad,” most psychics I know (myself included) view tough times or situations as a lesson from the Universe. If we can get under the hood of that thing via psychic info, a look at past lives, etc., you can gain some valuable insights into how to better navigate the problem. You do NOT have to stay stuck. To me, that’s the point of psychic insight: to help the client find additional ways to improve their life. It’s not the only way and it should be combined with practical action -but this “out of the box” approach can be very helpful.

So if you’ve ever thought about having a reading, but are still on the fence, think about what I’ve said here. At the very least, you’ll have a new experience to talk about at your next barbecue. At the most, you could come away with a fresh new way to solve your problems – and a doorway into a brand new life.

Psychics and Religion

A few years ago, I used to read at a local New Age shop. And you could pretty much count on getting some nasty piece of literature shoved under the door each week, claiming that what we were doing was “evil,” “of the devil,” we were going to Hell, blah blah blah.

Sooooo Over the HellFire threat....

Sooooo Over the HellFire threat….

I’ve gotten similar comments on Facebook or at my website. And, although I’ve been patient over the years, I’m here to tell you, I’VE OFFICIALLY HAD IT.

So here’s the deal. I respect people’s religious beliefs. But what I can’t stomach is medieval fear-mongering. As a psychic, what I do aligns with all great teachings, namely, helping someone evolve to something higher. And I would at least like the super-religious types to respect MY “religion.”

Psychics and mediums are tapped into a higher spiritual vibe. We are very aware that there is something greater than us, and we honor that. I think where it goes sideways for some folks is that an ethical psychic will always emphasize your free will in a situation. Anything that comes up is dependent on you taking action. This is where psychics and religion tend to part company.

For centuries, many religious leaders put the emphasis on that great spirit in the sky. “He” – and by default, “they”—were in charge. They could dispense praise and punishment, they ran the show. Conversely, the metaphysical world puts YOU in charge. And -no shocker- the establishment does NOT like that.

I’ve been reading Tarot for years, and discovered something interesting in my studies. The cards depict our journey, from being a straight-up dumbass (The Fool) to a more enlightened being (The World). Along the way, there are many tests and challenges (the minor cards), but ultimately, the individual is in charge of the choices they make (or don’t). I once read that this wisdom was put into “card” form so that the reader could scoop them up and be on their way in case the religious po-po showed up. Much less dangerous than a book, or a street sermon – which might’ve gotten them burned at the stake. Because “they” feared the power of the individual and how psychics emphasized that.

This is not Guantanamo.

This is not Guantanomo.

This, to me, is why so many religious believers freak out over psychics. But we are not here to replace or diss your God, rather to give you a different way to experience that kind of spiritual power. So stop already with the “devil” talk. We are not down with Satan.

Not my friend….just sayin.

And stop throwing shade at those of us who deal with the spiritual life in a different way. Like I said, I am OVER it.  Just had to rant.  Thanks for letting me off-gas my rage.

Three Things About Your Life Purpose

At a certain point in our life, we may worry that we’ve missed the boat on why we’re here. I’ve had a ton of clients lately wondering what their “life purpose” is. That nagging sense of something unfulfilled, unmet – that’s the Universe nudging you to take another look at things.

Now before you start hypeventilating over what a big job that seems to be, take a second. Over the years, I’ve sussed out a few things about the whole “life purpose” thingy. Read on and relax….

1) The term “life purpose” is pretty overwhelming. Don’t know about you, but it used to make me think of folks like Mozart or Madame Curie or Madonna – they all did something big and huge and left a permanent mark on humanity’s radar. “Life Purpose” implies something major. But that’s more the exception than the rule.

Even SHE probably worries that she was supposed to be a Doctor.

Even SHE probably worries that she was supposed to be a Doctor.

I love the story of St. Therese of Liseux, AKA “The Little Flower.”  Her thing was all about honoring God in little ways. Small kindnesses done to a single fellow human versus the big show in the ginormous cathedral. She famously said, “I only love simplicity. I have a horror of pretence.”  Word, sister.

th-1

I think this is how, for many of us, our Life Purpose shows up. What seems to come naturally, easily are all hints of what you’re here to contribute.

One of my friends at the diner makes it a habit to tell me a corny joke every time I see him. I inevitably laugh and it sets my day off to a great start. This is no big thing – just a laugh shared from a friend.  But to make others feel good, well, this is part of his Life Purpose.

So take your definition of “Life Purpose” down a notch. Or five. Not everyone will be Mozart – but each of us can contribute in small ways for the betterment of us all.  And in the big picture, that’s more important.

2) Believe it or not, your life purpose is frequently uncovered by the suckiest things in your life. I just read a gentleman who recently endured both cancer and a heart attack. I saw very clearly that his experience would be useful for other folks dealing with illness. I also saw that he could use his talent for art to create little “healing cards” to distribute at hospitals, etc. That would be one way to make his “theme” work on a practical level.

When you look at the challenges and struggles of your life, what common thread runs through them all?  This is very likely a key to what it is you came here to do.

3) Your Life Purpose doesn’t have to be the one and only thing you do. There’s this idea that, once you discover it, you quit your job, leave your home and family, and head off into the world to do it. For some people, that may be the case.

Clearly living the fantasy.

Clearly living the fantasy.

But for most of us, we learn to fold our purpose into our overall life.

Flip your thinking and see “purpose” more as a thread that runs through your life. Because that can be enough – giving you a compass by which to direct the rest of your actions.

Of course, if you discover that healing or helping others is what makes your heart sing, your job as a forensic accountant may not cut it.   You may find yourself making changes in order to spend more time doing what makes you happy. But that’s not an absolute; don’t let this myth overwhelm you. Finding small ways to address your purpose is likely to make the rest of your daily life much richer and satisfying, and stop those nagging 3 a.m. moments.

Remember St. Therese.   And if I can help you uncover your own Life Purpose by using the Tarot, past life readings and help from your guides and angels, get in touch.

Sylvia Browne, The Imperfect Psychic

I was saddened to see that Sylvia Browne passed away.  Although I got the feeling that she had been sick for awhile – she didn’t look good in some recent pictures.   So I’m glad she’s at peace and romping on the Other Side.  That must be some party.

Anyway, as I was scanning the news stories about her, I was pretty p’o’d to see a snarky link to a YouTube clip entitled, “Sylvia Browne, World’s Worst Psychic.”

Like many people, I first came upon Sylvia when she was on The Montel Williams Show.  She gave messages to audience members and answered questions.  On one of her televised appearances, she announced that Amanda Berry was dead.  Amanda was one of the women kidnapped and held hostage for years by that monster in Ohio.  Fortunately, she was found alive recently.  And Sylvia was pilloried for putting Berry’s mother through that agony.

She later posted a message stating how happy she was that Amanda was alive and regarding her TV appearance, that “Only God is 100% right.”

I’m sure that wasn’t the first time she was wrong about something, but this was certainly the most public example.  And it gave skeptics all the ammo they needed to discredit any of the good work she’d done through her career.

This is a point that needs to be discussed.  No psychic or medium, no matter how gifted they are, is always right.  But a lot of people expect us to be.  I had one potential client ask me if I was “100 percent accurate…or close.”  I laughed.  There’s something about psychics that inspires magical thinking – like we’re elves or hobbits.

It's a movie, people....

It’s a movie, people….

John Edwards was also touched with a little scandal when he had his regular TV show  Apparently, it was discovered that producers had the audience miked ahead of taping, eavesdropping on conversations and then ‘feeding’ some of that info to John.

I don’t think that John needed feeding, but clearly, the producers were trying to impress the audience by having him appear to be 100 percent right, all the time.  Which is bullshit.    And by trying to make the impossible seem real, it tainted John’s very real gifts.

For some, there seems to be an “all or nothing” mentality when it comes to psychics.  You’re either totally amazing or you suck.  But being sensitive to the spirit world is just that – being sensitive.  And real life has its impact.  We psychics know what affects us, positively and negatively, and live each day accordingly.  But sometimes you wake up from a bad night’s sleep and step in cat vomit. Stuff happens.

Good frikkin' morning....

Good frikkin’ morning….

Human foibles and challenges allow the psychic to better empathize with their client.  Our spirit guides “use” our experiences to translate higher knowledge into something useable and understandable.  It’s the equivalent of “Been there, done that, got the spiritual t-shirt.”   Expecting perfection from any intuitive is unrealistic.

As psychic-mediums, we do our best to be of service.  But in the end, its up to you to consider the information you’re getting, apply it or discard it.  I remind my clients to take what resonates with them, and leave the rest.

And that goes for Sylvia Browne.  In her life, she provided more good, healing, hopeful information than she did goofs.  And that’s what she should be remembered for.  RIP, girlfriend.

th

3.5 Reasons You Need A Psychic

The way I see it, you need these on speed-dial: a plumber, mechanic, lawyer, and in my house, a chicken place that delivers.

I would add to that, a good psychic.

I’m not talking about hitting up Madame Lasagna at the boardwalk. I’m talking about those of us who are truly, sharply tuned in to the intuitive side.  That kind of information gives you a new (and sometimes better) way to deal with modern challenges.

For the record, this is NOT me.

For the record, this is NOT me.

Ever since the first human wondered if the person in the next cave over liked them or not, humans have sought ways to see what couldn’t be determined by other means.   Psychic ability lets us pull back from what’s in front of us, and sense other things at play.  The psychic’s brain downloads on a completely different channel and offers another source of information.

Intuition is a nice counterbalance to the super-tech, pointy-headed vibe of this 21st century life.  It’s more organic. Your iPhone can do a lot of things, but picking up psychic info ain’t on the list.

Can find you a restaurant, can't solve your relationship crisis.

Can find you a restaurant, can’t solve your relationship crisis.

Maybe that’s why I’ve seen such a huge increase in people coming for a reading whom you might not expect: a tough Irish cop, a psychoanalyst, a surgeon, for starters.  They’re finding a new way around their problems, by tapping into this age-old data stream.

If you’re still kicking the idea around, here are my 3.5 reasons to consider a psychic.

Reason #1:  WE SEE THE BIG PICTURE – THE REALLY BIIIIIG PICTURE

As a psychic, I’m focused on the particular issue you bring me, but I’m also “pulling back” to see what else is going on around its edges.  It’s kind of like Google Earth.  Many times, I pick up on things affecting it that you weren’t aware of:  past-life influences, karma, what’s up with the other people involved.  That kind of intel gives you a new perspective on why and where you’re stuck.  (Even if you’re not sold on the idea of past lives or karma, admit it – it sounds interesting, doesn’t it?)

th-2

Can this help me find where I parked at the mall?

Reason #2 WE GIVE YOU A DETOUR AROUND THE ROADBLOCKS

When the same annoying situation/person keeps showing up in your life, there’s a reason.  Yes, really.   The Universe is trying to get your attention, or to provide a lesson.  What is that lesson?  An intuitive can give you the crib sheet and show you how to finally move forward.

Even around this....

Even around this….

Reason #3   A READING GETS YOU OUT OF YOUR HEAD

Check the frownlines on your face: we spend so much time grinding our mental gears, trying to work out a solution to a problem.

A reading might save you on some Botox. Just sayin.

A reading might save you on some Botox. Just sayin.

Sometimes, you need to take the brain out of it – and see what instinct and the heart has to say.  That’s the specialty of a psychic.  Add that info to the intellectual mix, your own knowledge of the situation and you’ve got something you can really work with in solving a problem.

Reason #3.5  YOUR DEAD GRANNY WANTS TO SAY “’SUP?”

Not all psychics are mediums – meaning, possessing the ability to connect with those on the Other Side.  But for those who do have that particular channel on their radio, it can be a powerful experience for the client.  My motto is, “It’s not a reading ‘til someone’s crying.”

Tools of the trade.

Tools of the trade.

Connecting with someone you’ve lost  is incredibly therapeutic.  I’ve had clients finally be able to drop all kinds of baggage after getting a message from someone who’s crossed over.  It’s not only intensely liberating, it’s a big comfort, as well.   The right psychic-medium can hook you up on that channel.

When it comes to finding an intuitive, I strongly believe in personal recommendations.  You want a good fit – and a truly professional intuitive won’t mind if he/she isn’t the right one for you.

Let me just add that a responsible psychic will only ask for his/her standard fee (and not hit you up for “extras,” like “removing curses”); and if someone’s issues are above their paygrade, they’ll suggest a qualified mental health professional.

At any rate, if you’ve ever rolled your eyes at the thought of consulting a psychic, open your mind.  This ancient art is more 21st century than you think.
